Patna Law College : Examination


PROMOTION AND UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION

(a) University shall conduct University Examinations at the end of each Semester. The result of such Examination shall be published by the University within 30 days of the Examinations.

(b) No student shall be allowed to appear at LL.B. 1st Semester Examinations of Patna University unless he has been sent-up for the said Examinations.

(c) A student appearing in the University Examinations of 1st Semester shall be promoted to 2nd Semester. But no student shall be permitted to appear in the 2nd Semester end term examination unless he has passed the 1st Semester Examinations and has been declared sent-up for in 2nd Semester Examinations.

(d) A student appearing in the 2nd Semester Examination shall be promoted to 3rd Semester. But no student shall be to permitted to appear in the 3rd Semester end term Examinations unless he has passed 2nd Semester Examinations and has been declared sent-up for in 3rd Semester Examinations.

(e) A student appearing in the 3rd Semester Examinations shall be promoted to 4th Semester. But no student shall be to permitted to appear in the 4th Semester end term Examinations unless he has passed 3 rd Semester Examinations and has been declared sent-up for in 4th Semester Examinations.

(f) A student appearing in the 4th Semester Examinations shall be promoted to 5th Semester. But no student shall be to permitted to appear in the 5th Semester end term Examination unless he has passed 4th Semester Examinations and has been declared sent-up for in 5th Semester Examinations.

(g) A student appearing in the 5th Semester Examinations shall be promoted to 6th Semester. But no student shall be to permitted to appear in the 6th Semester end term Examinations unless he has passed 5th Semester Examinations and has been declared sent-up for in 6th Semester Examinations.


SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATION

University shall hold a Supplementary Examinations within 60 days of the end term Examinations of each Semester to provide an opportunity to such students to clear their papers in which they have failed. Students would be required to appear in Supplementary Examinations only in those paper/papers in which they have failed.

A student shall be allowed only three consecutive chances to appear in end term Examinations of any Semester to pass in that Semester. If he is unable to pass that Semester in three consecutive attempts, his/her enrollment will automatically stand cancelled.

DIVISION

In order to pass and to be placed in 2nd class an examinee must obtain a minimum of 40% marks in each theory paper including internal assessment and at least 45% marks in the aggregates of all papers taken together including the marks obtained in internal assessment.

In order to pass and to be placed in 1st class an examinee must obtain minimum 40 % marks in each theory paper including internal assessment and at least 60% marks in the aggregates of all papers taken together including the marks obtained in internal assessment.

In order to pass with distinction an examinee must obtain minimum 40 % marks in each theory paper including internal assessment and at least 75% marks in the aggregates of all papers taken together including the marks obtained in internal assessment.

Class / division will be awarded on the basis of results of all Six Semesters.

The degree shall be awarded on the basis of total aggregate marks obtained in all the Six Semesters University Examinations that is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Semesters Examinations taken together conducted by the Patna University.

OPERATION OF THE REGULATION

These regulations for three years Law Course (Semester system) shall come into force from session - 2010-2011 for which students have been admitted to LL.B. Semester-I Course.

However the existing Regulations of three year Law with annual examination shall remain in operation for the old students of the Law course up to the three consecutive examinations after the 2010 examination.

In the event of a gap of more than three calendar Year after taking admission in Regular course, the student shall be required take fresh admission in the respective Part irrespective of the fact that he / she has been declared sent- up for University Examination.
