Mission
Introductionary notes
Patna law college which was founded in 1909 and was affiliated to the Calcutta University in the same year. So 1917 it was transferred to the newly created Patna University. Till first Jan 1952 it remained under the control of the director of public institution Bihar, and from the 2nd Jan 1952 it came under the control of Patna University. The college after analysing the records observes its foundation day on 30th July.
Patna Law College is the 7th oldest college of the country and mother of legal general education in the country in and state of Bihar in particular. This college has the privilege of producing two chief justices of India namely Mr. Justice B.P.Sinha and Mr. Justice L.M.Sharma. Also Shri Lal Narayan sinha First Attorney general of India and a galaxy of supreme court and high courts Judges, jurists, eminent advocates, reputed academicians able administrators and enumerable towering personalities adorning very high and coveted chairs in various walks of life. Presently the law Minister of India Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad in the alumnus of this college.
Conclusive explication
Amidst the year of reform, “Minto-Morey reform” 1909 the Patna law college was established with the objective of providing legal education in North India and this goal has been persued efficiently. In hundred year of its journey the college acclaims producing two chief Justices of India and enumerable towering personalities, who have been serving the nation and society in various fields like legal education, Judiciary, administration, freedom fighters, social activist etc.
Beside the teaching and learning process the Patna law college has been playing proactive role by creating legal and social awareness about socio legal issue and continuously holding gender sustization programmes. The NNS Unit of Patna Law College continuously holds the blood camps and cleanliness programmes. The college has the strength of 777 Students out of which 151 are girl student, which reflects imparting legal education to female ultimately helps in women empowerment. Last but not least the college in treading over the path of excellence in legal education and it is believed that. It will be discharging its responsibilities by creating awareness about social evils and will provide solutions of eradication of such social evils like dowery, infanticide, bride burning, untouchbility etc.
